About

I’ve always felt that what they say about the importance of the “sit-down” family dinner is true, regardless of how you define family and of where you sit.  Though my own house-hold growing up wasn’t really one for schedules and regimens, sitting around the table for breakfast and dinner was just something you did, like closing your eyes for sleep and opening them up again in the  morning.  Only in retrospect have I realized that this soul-and-body nurturing ritual (like so many others) must be fostered—it doesn’t just come about.

So that’s one goal of this blog: to foster the ritual of the sit-down meal in a new way, to bring our families–those entwined with us in blood or affinity– to the virtual table to take sustenance together.

The other goal is to create a go-to place on the web for all of us when we’re suffering from food-block, by which I mean not an intestinal disturbance but that unpleasant state of not knowing what to cook.
